Our VFW post, in partnership with American Legion post 32 conducted a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, 10/15/2022 at 2PM. Dillon, SC VFW Post 6091 and Dillon, SC American Legion Post 32 retired 20 tattered & faded U.S. flags.
Sergeant Gray & the Dillon HS US Army J ROTC department & The Dillon Girl Scouts were a very important part of the proceedings! We enjoy having our young citizens participating & learning these traditions!
Each flag was closely inspected and ceremoniously retired in memory of a named deceased Dillon Veteran and held over a burn pit as the flag yields its substance to the fire.

Suicide is a problem that touches the lives of many Americans. Many of us may know someone, such as a friend, family member, or coworker who has attempted or died by suicide. Over the past two decades, suicide rates have steadily risen in the United States. Suicide is currently ranked 10th for cause of death among all ages. It’s important for you to know that suicide is preventable. With commitment and engagement in our communities, workplaces, and homes, together we can help reduce the number of suicides.
